Another
excellent lunch with guest speakers from Health Canada who connected
to us from Ottawa. |
|
The
videoconference lasted about one hour. Alexa Brewer, Director
and Ernie Dal Grande, Planning Analyst with Health Programs
Analysis, told us about the First Nations Telehealth Pilot Project
and some of the new Federal government programs. They talked
about the opportunities that they see for Keewaytinook Okimakanak
First Nations to be involved in these types of applications.
|
|
Understanding
the growing pains that the original telehealth pilot communities
were going through was emphasized. Ernie talked about the time
needed to select appropriate technology, to develop adequate
assessment criteria and to ensure that savings accrued from
telehealth would be reinvested in community health. |
|
After
a short break we began the difficult process of translating
our spray diagrams into "rich pictures." Ricardo explained that
the rich picture would be a tidy version of our original, that
it would organize concerns around stakeholders, and that it
would make links between issues, institutions, and people in
the community. |
|
This
was hard work. |
|
We
all had a hard time getting started, but we all found that stopping
was difficult. |
|
At
the end of it all, we had made some pictures of our concerns
and dreams.
|
|
Another
group's thoughts and dreams. |
|
And
the third group's Rich Picture. |
|
After
all the pictures were completed, Ricardo finished off this activity
by talking about the links and the ways that we might use this
process in our communities. |
