BIOGRAPHICAL |

|
Harvey
Yesno was born in Eabametoong (Fort Hope) First Nation in 1955, one
of twelve children of the late John C and Jane Yesno. He has been
married to Helen for twenty one years; they have four children. He
is bilingual (English and Ojibway) and though now a resident of Thunder
Bay, has lived in his home community for most of his life.
An avid reader of history and politics, Yesno uses travel to bring
Aboriginal history alive for his children. He is a board member of
the Thunder Bay Christian Fellowship, Overcomers Ministry (USA), Arrowhead
Ministeries and the Airport Multifaith Worship Centre of Thunder Bay.
Harvey describes the key motivators in his life as his family, his
faith, lifelong learning and a commitment to the advancement of First
Nations people in Northern Ontario.
He received
a Diploma in Avionics Maintenance Technology from Confederation
College in 1977 and continues to pursue new knowledge and skills
by participating in seminars and courses.s

A
career with wide ranging experience in the public and private sectors.
President and CEO of Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund since 1993. Served
as Chief of Eabametoong First Nation for five terms and as Councillor
for one term. For the past twenty years, active participant in many
different capacities in the National Indian Brotherhood\Assembly of
First Nations and Grand Council Treaty #9\Nishnawbe Aski Nation. He
founded and operated Mid Can Air for seven years and as a free lance
consultant in the late 80's.
The guiding
objectives of his career are the creation of a sustainable business
and economic development sector in the Aboriginal community and
the development of regional and community institutions to achieve
self determination.
