  Program Outline

The Northern Chiefs' Tribal Council in partnership with Nishnawbe Aski Nation organized an Information and Communication Technology Conference in Thunder Bay on February 11 - 14, 2002.

The conference focus was on the integration of information and communication technologies as a tool to develop knowledge–based economies, preserve culture, enhance lifestyles and integrate the technologies into daily living.

The purpose of the conference was to educate and facilitate discussions with regards to the development and use of Information and Communication Technologies in Aboriginal communities as well as informing the business leaders and community stakeholders of the benefits of building "SMART" communities, facilities and services. The conference was a platform to share ideas, knowledge, information and resources as well as create partnerships among the delegates, communities and government sectors.
