Raymond Mason

Raymond Mason, E-Centre Manager -

Keewaywin First Nation

Raymond Mason is a Keewaywin First Nation band member who has been using information and communications technologies (ICTs) for three years. As the E-Centre’s Manager, he is in charge of the day-to-day operations of a fully integrated ICT facility and is available to answer questions about the use of ICTs in the home, workplace and community.

Raising awareness of  ICTs (information and communication technologies) in the community and working towards the sustainability of the community's connectivity are the two priorities that motivate Raymond's work each day. For the past three years he has worked hard to demonstrate how ICTs can address community needs and contribute to the community's well-being.

"We introduce the SMART tools, we raise awareness about them, and we help the community with ongoing support," Mason said, explaining that the E-Centre holds workshops every year on different aspects of the SMART tools and its employees help people in the community with any computer problems that arise. Mason is currently looking at ways in which the community could contribute towards the costs of connectivity.
